kava-kava-really-sad

Kava Kava–really sad

Health Canada is at it again. This time it is warning people not to take Kava kava . I find that interesting since Health Canada made Kava illegal in 2002. Health Canada in their wisdom took a completely safe natural sleep aid and anti- anxiety product off the shelves, even though this product had been used without one incident for hundreds of years. Sleep disorders affect over half the population of Canada and Kava was one product that i found to be quite effective in helping my patients .I read the study that got Health Canada concerned about Kava , stating that taking a huge amount of Kava could cause liver problems. Taking too much of anything can cause problems. Who is Heath Canada protecting anyways? they allow sleep medication that turn people into zombies with lots of side effects– go figure

glaxosmithkline-and-ethics-may-be-like-oil-and-water

GlaxoSmithKline and ethics May be like oil and water.

Already in hot water over possibly hiding the suicide risk of paxil for 15 years, it seems one of our favorite Big Pharma companies is at it again.  When billions of dollars is potentially at risk, it seems that GlaxoSmithKline may have stooped to a new low.  The latest case involves testing of a vaccine for pneumonia and the possible link to 14 deaths of children in Argentina.  Read the article to see for yourself the great lengths that Glaxo went to recruit people into the trial.  naughty naughty.

Now, GlaxoSmithKline, before you get upset with this blog, remember, i did use the words: “may, possible, and potentially”.  Innocent until proven guilty, I know that.  We can trust the upstanding, “looking out only for our best interest” organization known by the formidable letters FDA to look into the matter.  If anybody can get to the bottom of what really happened and POSSIBLY nail Big Pharma to the wall, it is the completely bought off objective watchdog.

vit-d-you-have-been-duped

Vit D—You have been Duped

This is an exhaustive study showing increased levels of the sunshine vitamin decrease your risk of premature death by a whopping 26%. Don’t you feel like you have been deceived.  For years medicine has been telling us to get out of the sun. After all you might get skin cancer. But this was a great marketing ploy by the makers of sunscreens like Johnson & johnson that invented a medical crisis that really didnt exsist. Reminds me of the new cholesterol marketing strategy of big pharma that got millions of people taking statins that they dont need.  By the way do not hold your breath waiting for an admission that medecine was wrong about Vitamin d. They will take the studies and put their spin on them like “we need more studies to show that vitamin d is safe , in the meantime stay out of the sun and use your sunscreen”.

they-are-missing-the-point

They are missing the point!

New research recently published says that there is “No evidence that organic food is better than food grown with the use of pesticides and chemicals”.  Of course I have a few problems with a study like this.  First of all, for the purpose of this research paper, “better”, refers to the retention of minerals and trace elements.  Meaning, you get and retain the same amount of minerals and trace elements from organic and non-organic foods.  So What!!!  The end of the article has a quote basically saying that organic foods is simply a lifestyle choice for those who can afford it, implying that they are not doing it for health reasons, because the research clearly shows no benefit.

My two cents:  When i eat organic foods, do i do so because i get more nutrients?  Nope.  I am not dulisional enough to think that i get all the necessary nutrients in a day from my food in the first place (sorry anti-supplement people).  Do I eat organic food because it is a lifestyle choice and i like to drop the fact that i eat organic foods in every conversation that i can to come across as “health conscious”?  Nope.  So why do i eat organic foods in the first place?  Long term effects.  Did the above article even mention the long term problems associated with eating foods with chemicals and pesticides?  Of course not.  Does common sense dictate that foods grown without the use of chemicals will be safer in the long run?  I would think so.

So, what do we do with an article like this?  Nothing.  Unless you ate organic thinking you get more nutrients from it and could care less about possible cancers associated with chemicals.  Then you should switch back to chemically grown foods.

what

What???

Here is a warning by the FDA.  It seems that if you are taking a heart rhythm drug such as Cordarone, then you shouldn’t take Vytorin or Zocor, both of which are cholesterol drugs.  My question is this:  Why in the world is anybody still using Vytorin?????  Another reason not to take Vytorin.  Why not, here is another reason.

breast-self-exams

Breast self exams

This article really is negative concerning women doing self breast examination. The author states that self exams are leading to way too many useless biopsies, and  causing no real dent into deaths caused by this dreaded disease. In my book MEDICAL CRISIS , i mention three tests that will tell you years ahead of time if you are heading towards breast cancer .These three test are— ph, inflammation status CRP,and free radical  testing.People rarely understand that breast cancer is a very slow progessing cancer that by the time you could actually feel a lump upon self breast examination, the cancer has been there for several years

ladies-a-good-case-for-abstinence

Ladies–a good case for abstinence

Interesting study on alcohol consumption and breast cancer .It seems that no amount of alcohol is safe for women. Can i make a suggestion , instead of having a glass of wine with dinner why not have a glass of pure grape juice (not from concentrate).Pure blueberry juice or pomegranate are great choices too. This way you get all the antioxidant benefits and revesterol for lowering cholesterol without the increase risk of breast cancer

gardasil-adverse-reactions

Gardasil adverse reactions.

A good read on Gardasil called “Our girls are not guinea pigs”.  Here is a report by the CDC on the adverse reactions by girls who received the vaccine.

Do you believe big pharma when they say that they are only looking out for the health of your daughter?

Here is the commercial designed to scare you into getting the Gardasil vaccine.

Here is a disturbing video about the side effects of a girl who received the vaccine.
