Motivational Health |
It is no secret that it’s difficult to get motivated on a journey to a healthy life. I’ve heard it said, “If you want something you have never had, you have to do something you have never done,” and for you that may be to start your journey to health.
Start by changing two things that are deteriorating your health. This can be the beginning to your healthy new life change. First you need to discover your why. For you it may be weight loss, or lower your blood pressure or just be able to walk around the block. Start by doing one thing at a time. It could simply be eating more fruits and veggies. Dr. Oz, from oprah.com, told the story about nine people who volunteered in an experiment eating the human version of eating eleven pounds of raw fruits and veggies and seed that animals in the zoo in England would eat for twelve days. They ate right along with the apes and other zoo animals. After twelve days, the humans lost an average of 10 pounds, lowered both their cholesterol level by 25 percent, lowered blood pressure by 10 percent and lost 2 and one quarter inches in waist size.
I am not suggesting you eat 11 pounds of raw fruits and veggies, but simply start a journey step with eating more raw food. Ask yourself, “what other habits may be destroying your health and well being?” I consider the most important health and life changing step is to convince your mind that you are in control. You may have to remind yourself of that. The Bible says, “As a man thinketh so is he.” If you think you can’t change your poor health habits, or if you think you can change, you are right. Start to see yourself well with a positive mind. Stop talking about how old you feel! I tell people not to use the O word in old. I notice those that say how old they feel and act usually look the part as well. Attitude is contagious and has healing powers.
The second thing you want to change is your exercise habits. What else is new? For some you may want to simply start walking. If you are in an area that has cold weather start walking the mall. It takes 21 days to make something a habit. Don’t start to change several bad habits at once, it will only become overwhelming and you will fail. Are you ready to start your new health journey? Do it right now before you change your mind — do it immediately! Start by changing two things that are killing you:
- Want to lose 10 lbs? Eat more fruits and vegetables
- Want to exercise? Start walking 10 to 30 minutes every day
- Can’t quit smoking? Buy a cigeratte holder, and seeing the black tar in the filter, you will soon quit
Other choices may be to think only positive thoughts… think on everything that is kind, pure, lovely, and praiseworthy.
You may want to improve your financial problems or improve on a relationship. Poor finances and bad relationships cause serious physical and mental health issues. Start changing finances around by putting away one to three or up to ten percent of your weekly income. As for a poor relationship, start to talk about the problem immediately by writing the person a letter as to “how this makes me feel when you treat me this way”, but don’t be accusative!
Be honest with yourself, only you know what changes in your life need to be made. Start with the most difficult bad habit you need to change along with one that is easy. This is your day to make the changes needed to save your life.
Do you want to be sitting on a bed pan in a nursing home or on an exercise ball in Florida when you get older? I hope we have motivated you to seek the highest level of health that only you can buy with effort and dedication. If you don’t care about yourself, other than your family caring, you may find that not to many others really care about the quality of your health. Only you can make these life saving changes. Start this very moment.
Yes I know you have tried so many times to improve your health and failed. Remember, successful people are those who failed and tried one more time. Are you ready to try ONE MORE TIME? Let this be your last time because it just may be we are not promised second chances. I had a motivational program called You Can Make It for years on television. I always ended the program by saying, “You can make it! Your job is just to believe that!”

I posted the following on another blog. Any suggestions for me to lose weight or should I even bother anymore?
Ron
Good Morning!
I quit smoking on July 31st, 1981, at 11:25 pm. At the time I weighed about 185 lbs., slightly over weight.
Since then I have gained 2,750 lbs. and lost 2,685 lbs. I blame it all on smoking. I smoked 2 1/2 large pacs of plain cigarettes when I quit after 25 or so years of smoking.
I feel that I was so addicted to the habit, not the nicotine, that, to this day, I have to have something in my mouth!
Over the years, I have tried: the Grapefruit diet, smelling salts, Hoodia, hypnosis, low carbo, Aitkins, exercise (gained 10 lbs. one time), Nutrisystem, Weight Watchers, lower portions and exercise, others that I have read about and can’t remember.
The most I lost at one time was 60 lbs., which was low carb and walking (about 2 hours a day, 3 or 4 times per week. I did it in about 5 months.
Of course, I gained it all back.
I can stay on a diet, lately, for 3 or 4 weeks doing pretty good (i.e.) losing 10 to 15 lbs, but, then …….!!
The compulsive snack eating takes over again, small at first, radishes, then crackers, then, bagels, then, bagels and peanut butter, then, ……. well, it just keeps growing like a fungus, until I’m 10 lbs. heavier than I was when I started.
I am 68 years old, my hips are sore when I walk, or, stand for too long, or, if I sit too long.
I weigh 250 lbs. This is, 90 lbs. more than I was when I got married 44 years ago.
Although I can’t speak from experience, the best strategy is to limit your portions, and, eat as advised on the Canada Food Guide, exercise on a regular basis!
And, DON”T START SMOKING!
It ain’t easy, man! … it ain’t easy!
FYI!
